COVID Entry Rules Extended for UK Tourists Visiting Spain

After these new rules, the holiday rush for bargains during the season and half-term break in schools will get impacted. Vacationers who are expecting to visit Spain in the half-term will have to face the tough laws that will be applicable till 15 November.

The conditions were only eased for the members of the European Union but not for countries outside the EU and UK passport holders. Travellers need to produce:
  • Complete vaccination proof
  • Covid recovery proof
  • Negative report of antigen test taken within 24 hours before the time of departure
  • Or negative report of PCR test conducted within 72 hours before the time of departure

Spain prohibited unvaccinated people before May but was later eased for visitors from different countries. Later, Spain removed all such conditions for people from EU countries, and travellers started expecting that these would be done for UK citizens also.

Similar to other nations, Spain’s vaccine passports come with a 270-day validity. However, travellers needed to produce evidence of a booster shot in case the second vaccination dose was taken over nine months before. Presently, there is no termination date for a booster injection.

There is no need to show evidence of vaccination for children under 12 or go through any test. And those between 12 to 17 years of age don’t need to be completely vaccinated. They can show a negative PCR result or an antigen test taken 72 hours before arrival or 24 hours before departure respectively.

To ensure the obeyance of these rules, health screening will be done randomly at all Spanish airports and seaports. Only Slovakia, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg will continue to follow the restrictions across Europe.

This time, tourists arriving in Spain increased due to the popularity of the country's resorts even after the restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. Reyes Maroto, Tourism Minister said spending and durations of stays are increasing with the count of visitors in summer 2022 approaching 85% of those before the pandemic.
