France Overcame Gallant Morocco (2-0) to Set Up the Final Clash with Argentina

Get ready for a heavyweight championship clash between Messi’s team and the defending champions. France booked its seat for the final match after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the semi-final match of the FIFA World Cup 2022. While this came as a saddening moment for the fans of Morocco, the team that had a dream run this World Cup.

Holders France delivered an impressive performance and set up a mouth-watering clash with Argentina. Morocco played valiantly throughout the tournament but France surpassed the opponents with a 2-0 victory. Al Bayt Stadium witnessed a tightly contested clash in the second semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

After Brazil in 2002, France became the first defending champion team to reach the final stage in the next tournament. Their next bid is to get their name recorded as the third team to retain the title after Brazil (1962) and Italy (1938).

France opened its attack in the very first minutes and recorded a lead in the fifth minute. Theo Hernandez, the full-back, shot an acrobatic goal accurately in the net from a close range. Similar to almost every other match in the tournament, the losing team dominated the possession. However, France sent Randal Kolo Muani as a substitute who sealed the victory with his goal in the 79^th minute.

Moroccan supporters were being rowdy at the Al Bayt Stadium, boosting their favourite’s confidence. However, an early goal by Hernandez silenced the supporters and crushed the Moroccan confidence. But Morocco put in gallant effort without letting France’s reputation defer them. Even if they lost the match, they returned with a glowing reputation this season.

For Morocco, Olivier Giroud launched an attack in the first half but missed converting it from point-blank range. Jawad El Yamiq, the centre-back replacement, made another close attempt to equalize scores with a bicycle kick. Although the kick didn’t convert into a goal, the attempt won many hearts.

Morocco has one last clash left for third place. They will play against Croatia on Saturday and work towards adding more feathers to their hat for this year’s tournament.
