New Passport Requirements – Read This Before Visiting Spain, France, Greece, or Turkey

If you are planning a vacation to Europe this October half term, you must be aware of these passport requirements.

Many families will be planning to holiday overseas for the autumn season, especially in Spain, Turkey, and Greece, this October half-term. Since most European nations have cute lose their Covid constraints, you won’t need to complete complicated forms when travelling.

With the Brexit effect, you must be aware of certain passport conditions if you are a Brit travelling to Europe. Tourists coming from outside the EU to the EU and Schengen region will need their passports to comply with certain norms.

And if you are visiting the EU after a long time, it is crucial to know the latest updates regarding travel requirements. For instance, the new constraints bind travellers with a limit on how much time they can spend in Europe.

The FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) advises that your passport must meet the following requirements for visiting places like Spain, Greece and France:

·         The issue date of the passport must be less than 10 years before the date of your entry to the country.

·         The validity of your passport must be valid for a minimum of three months after the planned date of leaving.

Visitors can visit countries in the Schengen region for up to 90 days in any 180 days without a visa. This applies to travellers visiting family or friends, attending business meetings, cultural or sporting events, or going for short-term studies or training.

Passports of UK-based tourists must be stamped before entering and after exiting the Schengen region. Moreover, if you are using e-gates at the airport, ensure that your passport is stamped as well.

The FCDO issued travel advice for Turkey, stating that your passport’s validity shouldn’t be less than 150 days from the date of entry. Plus, it should have a blank page for entry and exit stamps.
