SPAIN IMPOSES STRICT ENTRY ON THE WHOLE TERRITORY OF FRANCE AND ITALY

SPAIN IMPOSES STRICT ENTRY ON THE WHOLE TERRITORY OF FRANCE AND ITALY

After weeks of having only selected regions of their territory places on Spain’s list of high-risk areas, both Italy and France have been moved to the same list as a whole.

On September 6, when the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare updated the list of European Union and Schengen Area countries travel from where is considered as riskier for the public health in Spain, it added France and Italy, as well as Romania’s regions of Nord-Vest and Vest.

The new changes mean that travellers reaching Spain from France and Italy and Romania’s regions of Nord-Vest and Vest are now obliged to present a document that proves they have been vaccinated with a vaccine accepted by the Spanish authorities as valid proof of immunity for travel.

Proof of the previous infection with COVID-19 as well as negative COVID-19 test results can be presented in order to be eligible to enter Spain from these areas, instead of proof of vaccination.

The decision has become effective on September 6 and will remain in place until the end of the week, on September 12.

Previously, on the last update of the list on August 30, only the following regions of these countries were considered as high-risk areas, thus only travellers from these regions were subject to stricter entry rules:

·         France (Corse, Guadeloupe, Guyane, La Réunion, Martinique, Occitanie, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-FrancheComté, Bretagne, Center – Val de Loire, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France, Ile-deFrance, Normandie, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Pays de la Loire )

·         Italy (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Marche, Sardegna, Sicily, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardia, Piemonte, Autonomous Province of Bolzano / Bozen, Autonomous Province of Trento, Puglia, Umbria, Valle d’Aosta / Vallée d’Aoste and Veneto)

·         Romania (Bucure?ti-Ilfov)

France and Italy have both marked an increase in the number of COVID-19. Data by the World Health Organization shows that the rate for the newly reported cases in the last seven days per 100,000 population in France is at 136.31 while for Italy, the same is 67.55.

Whereas in the last 24 hours, France has recorded 2,310 new cases while Italy has marked another 3,347 cases of people infected with the virus.

At the same time, Spain has also updated its list of epidemiologically safe third countries, travellers from countries in which list are eligible to enter Spain even for non-essential purposes.
