This Village in the Canary Islands is an Impressive Place to Visit in Spain
The Canary Islands is considered
one of the best destinations for winter vacations. Among the various
spectacular spots on the island, some are much more captivating than others.
According to a campaign named “The
Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España,” Spain has some extremely beautiful
villages. And, on the top of the list is a village in well-maintained village in
the archipelago of the Canary Islands.
This idyllic Spanish island houses
Agulo, one of the oldest towns, that’s also referred to as the "Bonbon of
La Gomera.”
As per the campaign, Agulo is a wonderful
viewpoint over the Atlantic Ocean with a cover of greenery provided by its
crops. In the entire archipelago, this town is the most maintained and takes travellers
back to the bygone era with small, pebbled streets.
Lying on the north coast of the
island, the town offers an impressive view of the lush landscape surrounding
the Atlantic coast. You can visit this town in Agulo’s lower area and feel
relaxed in its narrow cobbled streets.
The House of Jose Aguiar is one
of the must-visit places there. If you don’t know, Aguiar is a native painter who
earned popularity across the Canaries. Visitors can also experience a
picturesque view at the Mirador de Abrante from within a glass platform.
“Dazzling views. Spectacular
views. Very narrow road all the way up with the jeep but worth every second. The
views of Tenerife and El Teide were breathtaking and we were very lucky to
visit on a magnificent clear day,” says a visitor.
Easter is celebrated with a huge
fiesta in Agulo. Young men testing their bravery by leaping through fire is a popular
tradition.
Garajonay National Park is
another popular with multiple hiking trails and a massive diversity of plant
species. It covers 11% of La Gomera. Usually, this park remains covered in fog
and you might be bewitched on your visit like a fairytale.
The next on the list is La
Gomera, the smallest of the Canary Islands. It is usually calmer as compared to
Gran Canaria or Tenerife.
Britons need to take a domestic
flight from Gran Canaria or Tenerife to reach the place because no direct
flight is available. A ferry ride from Tenerife is also available with six
crossings per day, making the island a suitable destination for a day trip. With
an hour’s trip, you can easily explore the island over a day.
During the start of the calendar
year, temperatures hit 20 degrees with an average of four days of rain. For Britons,
the Canary Islands are some of the closest and most cost-effective winter sun
destinations.
Besides, you can also find numerous
family-friendly hotels there plus package deals from UK’s top holiday providers.
